Everything is perfectly: you put your vehicle for sale on the site known for its seriousness, you have paid and waits for potential buyers to contact you and ask for information about your vehicle.
And there you will come across a person who will ask you relevant questions (tire states, change of boards that can be expected, etc.), then give you some messages a curious request:
- “Do you have the Aautoreports.com message?” I absolutely need it. »»
- “Ha, don’t you have a message from Theins Respecrtifier.com?” It’s a shame because I was very interested in your vehicle ”
Temptation here is strong because you spent time with a person you have serious for someone. And if you’re not used to selling cars, you can say that this request is legitimate.
Of course it’s a scam.
100 % fraudulent pages
Because at first glance this site has everything that inspires trust. Professional design, neat logos, false shining customer reviews … Well, automatic translation into French eye stab, but for non -renoisseur holds subpreshing water. Because under this perfect appearance hides a well -established fraud.
Stratago is simple: these websites present themselves as third -party services to help you check the status of the vehicle or secure the transaction. Pseudo buyers will direct you to these platforms and once on the web you are invited to pay for an inspection message or warranty reportedly infallible. An invoice of EUR 54.99 is not listed, but after all on the vehicle 3 000, 8 000 or € 15,000 is reasonable, is it?
The only problem is that these reports are purely fictitious and your euros go directly into the fraudsters pockets. In some cases, this site can even be used to collect your personal or banking data for even more harmful purposes.
Joy.
Why is it so convincing?
These frauds play on two powerful psychological levers: trust and emergency situation. By heading for a website that seems seriously, fraudsters use your desire to quickly do a lot. Note that fraud also works in a different direction with sellers who encourage buyers to go through these sites to “secure the transaction”:
“I would only sell a car with this site, I have already used it.” I can even reduce the price of the car from the amount you pay. »»
Of course, these frauds use the acquaintance of legitimate places, such as a central or right corner to mask itself. The scammers place their fake notifications on these platforms, so their trick is even more trustworthy. Fortunately, these pages have implemented measures with a robot that detects ladies in cats.
This is also why you have to be careful about buyers/sellers who are asking you to communicate by e-mail from the first message!
How to protect yourself?
- Stay alert with third -party services: If the seller insists that you use a specific service to check the car or security of the transaction, it is empty.
- Check the information: If you want to have a clear heart, find the name of the site offered on the search engine with the keywords “scam” or “review”. You quickly realize the trick.
- Use secure platforms: sell or buy your vehicle with a safe system of classified ads. Otherwise, it is a bank check with your bank verification with your bank.
What to do in case of fraud?
If you have already become a victim of this type of fraud, say that 50 € or 90 € is not so serious. But this is not a reason not to do anything: to file an online complaint with cybermalveillance.gouv.fr, an official platform that will lead you in your efforts. Do not forget to keep all the evidence: e -maly, screenshots, bank statements, etc.
